The biennial budget, which became effective on July 1st, 2009 changed the definition of the taxable estate. The Maine taxable estate now includes gifts made by the decedent within one year prior to death.
Read more...The new tax law signed by the President on December 17, 2010 allows owners of IRAs and other “qualified” retirement accounts to make distributions to charity, excluding the distribution from taxable income. This revives the similar law that expired at the end of 2009.
